Live+Loud is back for 2010!

This year will be diverse in sound, but united in purpose. Bands and acts will tease and excite everyone with their sweet melodies and thumping distorted mayhem! From DJ beats and pop, to psychedelic tunes and rock, it will be a journey from chilled an…d relax, to a jumping and head banging frenzy. All for a good cause!

WHAT: Live + Loud 2010: ‘Diverse in Sound, United in Purpose’
WHERE: @ the Basement, Blacktown
WHEN: Aug 28, Doors open 6pm
COST: $10 pre-sale tix $12 at the door

Performers:
• 8 Rays
• Escapade
• Atomik Circus

Live + Loud started in 2008 and aims to raise much needed funds for the volunteers of the upcoming Gawad Kalinga Youth’s Great Adventure Tour Program (GKYGAT) in their mission to help the poor of the Philippines, Papua New Guinea, and Cambodia. Last year we raised around $3,000 and $1,700 in 2008. So hopefully this year will be even bigger and louder than the previous years!

Another fantastic part of the overall GKY GAT Program is the YGAT to Papua New Guinea. This YGAT offers young people the eye-opening opportunity to experience the very unique culture of Papua New Guinea – gaining exposure to the beautiful people and their land. This YGAT is truly an adventure and will allow you to experience first hand the programs of GK and how GK is working with the poor of Papua New Guinea to help them become self sufficient, self-reliant and once again realise their self worth.

One of the very interesting aspects of this YGAT is seeing and experiencing for yourself how the people, many of whom still live and practice very primitive traditions and practices, are grappling with the ever changing modern world around them. GK is there not only to help them adapt but also to help preserve the beauty of their culture and traditions.

The tentative dates for the 2010 PNG YGAT are September 11 to 26. If you would like more information on this GAT, please contact:
