GK or Gawad Kalinga which means to give care is a global movement that comprehensively transforms slums and disaster-stricken areas in poor economies into viable, sustainable communities.

GK started in the Philippines but has now found its way in other countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the ground-works have been laid out for India and Vietnam.

GK777 is a 21 year development program. In its Phase I, GK seeks to build 700,000 homes in 7,000 healthy communities within 7 years. GK does its work through volunteerism, community empowerment and partnership.

In 2008, GK ANCOP Australia together with GK Youth Australia launched its latest exciting program, GK1MB!!!

As of May 2009, there are over 2,300 GK communities. Australia has contributed 27 GK villages.
